Vicki Bishop Sings the Songs of Patsy Cline

More than 100 people put their hands together last Saturday in appreciation for the haunting songs of Patsy Cline performed by Vicki Bishop.  The Rector Community Center teamed up with the Imperial Dinner Theatre to raise funds for both establishments and to entertain the community members in style.

Members of the Imperial Dinner Theatre traveled from Pocahontas to prepare and serve a three course meal to guests at the Rector Community Center before pesenting Vicki Bishop to entertain.  Vicki captivated the crowd as she sang many of Patsy's favorite songs and shared bits and pieces of her tragically short life.

Starting with "Back In Baby's Arms", Bishop had the audience clapping and tapping to the beat as they sang along while she traveled vocally through Cline's career from her first number one hit, "I Fall to Pieces" to her final record, "Sweet Dreams" which was released posthumously.  Songs like "Crazy", "Anytime" and "Three Cigarettes in an Ashtray" presented in the throaty voice so similar to Cline's had some of the audience wondering if Patsy was indeed, singing through Vicki.

The evening was a great success, bringing in more than $600.00 for the Community Center.  These funds will be used toward the purchase of three additional replacement air conditioners, replacing several warped doors and other repairs and maintenance needed to keep the center operational for the community.  The Community Center Committee is working to bring more entertainers to the center and to sponsor fund raiserts of all sorts to raise money for the center.  Your suggestions are welcome.
