Rector is home to several vibrant churches.  Whether you're looking for a large, contemporary congregation or a small traditional service, you'll find it here.  Below is a listing of all churches within the city limits.  In addition, our area boasts many fine, smaller country churches on the outskirts of town and in the surrounding county.

 

First United Methodist ChurchFirst United Methodist Church
The history of Methodism in Rector goes back for 127 years.  Located on the corner of Main & West Third streets, the current building was built in 1916 and has been extended over the years to include an education wing and a new fellowship hall, completed in 2006.  Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m. with worship following at 10:50 a.m. Sunday evening services begin at 5:30 p.m. Youth fellowship is at 6 p.m. Sunday.Choir practice is at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, with women's Bible study at 7 p.m.  For more information, please call the church office at 595-2552. 5th and Pine Church of ChristFifth & Pine Church of Christ
An independent church of Christ, Fifth & Pine was established in the early 1900s. The original congregation was located across town before moving to its current location at the corners of 5th and Pine streets in what was once home to a Baptist congregation. The original building was extended and now includes a large sanctuary, educational facility and fellowship hall. Fifth & Pine welcomes all visitors.  Sunday School is at 9:45 a.m. Worship begins at 10:30.  Sunday evening services start at 5:30 p.m. and Wednesday services are at 7 p.m.  For more information, please call 595-3020. Primitive Baptist ChurchRector Primitive Baptist Church
Located on the corner of Hwy 49 and McNabb street, Rector Primitive Baptist Church is home to a small but active membership that enjoys preaching and fellowship. Services are held on the first, second and third Sundays of each month beginning at 10:30 a.m.  Invitation is open to all.

 

 

 

Cornerstone Assembly of God ChurchCornerstone Assembly of God
Cornerstone church is home to a congregation nestled in a quiet neighborhood on Phillips Street south of Highway 49. The church is affiliated with the Assembly of God denomination. Sunday morning services begin at 10 a.m. with worship at 11. Additional services are held Sunday evening at 6 p.m. and Wednesday at 7 p.m. Tim Jones is the interim pastor.

 

 

East Side Holly Island ChurchEast Side Holly Island Baptist Church
East Side Church is appropriately located on the east side of town at Third and Hafford Streets. Originally established approximately six miles outside the city in what was once a flourishing farming community named Holly Island, the church moved to its current location in 198x. It is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. Worship is held each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. preceded by Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. Sunday night services begin at 6 p.m and Wednesday activities start at 7 p.m. The current pastor is Gary Cox.

 

 

9th & Hafford Church of ChristNinth & Hafford Church of Christ
Ninth Street, also known as Highway 49, and the intersection of Hafford Street is the location of this quaint and beautiful 1950's era flagstone and brick church. The congregation enjoys Sunday morning Bible study at 10 a.m., followed by worship at 11.  Sunday evening worship is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. and mid-week Bible study is held on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

 

 

First General Baptist ChurchFirst General Baptist Church
First General Baptist has strong programs for children and youth of all ages, adults and seniors. The contemporary basilica style sanctuary, combined with a large education building, commands a prominent location toward toward the east edge of town.  Improvements to the original complex include expanded parking and a Life Center designed for sports and fellowship activities. Sunday School begins at 10 a.m. followed by worship at 11.  Evening services are held Sunday nights at 6. New Life Christian CenterNew Life Christian Center
At the intersection of Seventh & Hickman Streets, New Life congregants enjoy a recently built worship center and educational building surrounding a large fellowship hall in a single structure. Sunday morning worship is scheduled at 10 a.m. with Sunday night services at 6 p.m. Wednesday educational classes begin at 7:30 p.m.  For more information, please call 595-3500. Rector First Baptist ChurchRector First Baptist Church
Rector First Baptist Church, established in 1886, is the oldest active Baptist church in Rector. It is affiliated with the Greene County Baptist Association, the Arkansas Baptist State Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention. The church agrees with the Baptist Faith and Message, 2000 edition, as her statement of faith. She is composed of a variety of folks from various backgrounds, yet still blended together as a family with unity of purpose. Sunday School begins at 9 a.m. with morning services begin at 10. Sunday night services are at 6 p.m.  For more information, please call 595-3668. The current pastor is Ardell Polk.
