Rector, Arkansas

The Rector Saddle Club recently conducted a committee meeting on August 10th at the Community Center to discuss many improvements as well as issues concerning the arena in Rector.  Currently the saddle club is welding larger piping in the back holding areas for rodeo events.  They are making improvements to the bleachers, announcers stand, concession stand and overall maintenance of the arena grounds which include lighting issues. 

The Main Street Arkansas Quarterly Training workshop was held in Hardy  July 29th & 30th, hosting about 50 representatives from 21 communities from around the state, either as Arkansas Downtown Network members, or as full fledged Main Street Arkansas recipients.  Representing Rector's ADN Board were Nancy Kemp, Betty Benson, and Cyndi Corkran.

When the City of Rector was informed that the grant for Phase I had been awarded to begin restoration of the old historic jailhouse on South Main, a few cosmetic touches seemed in order, before the major renovation began.  Thanks to the men of the City Maintenance Crew, the tractor that once stood in front of the structure, has now been relocated to the southeast corner of the property, so as not to impede the view of the beautiful building. 

 Flowers have been added to the planters, and the renovation will begin in earnest very soon.
